Greddy BOV question
I was looking on E-bay and I came across Greddy Type-S BOV's going for like $160s but they were "universal" Greddy Type-S BOVs. I've searched the DSM sites and the cheapest I've found them for is like $190's. Is there a difference? Are all Greddy Type-S's the same or are they car specific? Thanks for you help.

why not just get a 1g eclipse BOV? ALOT cheaper..and I think they do the same results??

Really any upgrade will be helpful at this point. I've had a horrible boost leak for the past month. I can't stand the loud whistling of air flowing right through my bov. I've looked at a bunch of different BOVs and read a lot of the BOV related threads and I feel that the Greddy one is the way to go. I'm also planning on doing the full IC pipe kit from Greddy too. It would be nice to save $30 if I can get a "universal" type-s that is the exact same as and eclipse type-s.

They only make one BOV. You just need the flange/adapter for it.. or a GReddy UICP will come with the flange. If you want to save money, don't buy GReddy UICP.

How important is it to change the IC pipes? I can understand changing the one that the BOV directly connects to, but what about the other ones? Is it something that can wait? I have it in my mind that I should change all of them at once, but I'm coming to realize that might be the wrong approach.

bigger/smoother IC pipes helps reduce intake friction/heat. its a good idea if you plan on pushing some serious hp . if you are going to be barely over stock, you wont really feel any difference... well your wallet will

Also good to remember that the bigger the pipes, the more pressure drop it will have, because of the larger area the turbo has to pressurize. I wouldn't upgrade anything but the UICP or at least the half that the BOV is on. When you get a FMIC, you might have to ditch or chop up the pipes anyway.

All a "universal" BOV means, is that it doesn't come with a mouting flange and hardware for your specific car...I think. That's why they are cheaper...but once you need to install it, it comes out to the same price if not more, since you still have to mount it. Chavez408 is right, the best bang for the buck by far is the 1G BOV...actually, pretty much anything 1G is an upgrade for a 2G.

![]() ya a mounting kit is going to be more. i have seen the generic pipes with the GReddy type-s for like the cost of a new type-s. i would definitly go for those if you want the type-s. i love my GReddy
