Re: Tuner Candidates

I'm not partial to any one kit, it's all up to the builder as to how much potential any one kit has.

I am thinking about building a sileighty or golf next. Does anyone have any info on the fujimi sileighty. Is that kit bad or not? Does it come with an engine? ( and please, continue listing ur favorite tuner kit)

Re: Tuner Candidates

As over done as they are often considered, the Revell Civics or Integra offer countless possibilities, are cheap, and include two sets of bumpers so screwing up won't be a big deal. There are more real live tuners made from these cars than you can shake a stick at, and their basic lines lend themselves to all manner of body kits and conversions. I know a lot of folks are groaning around here at my suggestion, but as far as possibilites for the buck these kits rank pretty high up there.

Re: Tuner Candidates

never built a fujimi sileighty. but from the builds ive seen on here i suspect its typical fujimi quality. try doing a search in the completed and in progress section for builds. and no it doesnt have a engine, which sucks...

Re: Tuner Candidates

I would say for part swapping, kit bashing, etc that
FD3 Rx7's or Supras have lots of options (and body kits.) for aftermarket parts, the Enzo.

Re: Tuner Candidates

i like to browse my aftermarket options. then, armed with the knowledge of whats available for what model, I can decide which model I'd like to tune the most. for example..

i'll go over to chris's site..
www.scaleautostyle.com
and browse some of his transkits. from there I order a transkit then pick up the model and get to work. there are plenty of aftermarket parts available. search around. especially on this forum.

or you can go with a "tuner" kit, such as the said revell integra or civic kits, which are highly tunable straight from the box.

other options would be full scratch building of parts. which means, use your imagination and create things from nothing. say bending plastic sprue (parts tree's) into a downpipe or using putty to form parts/bodykits.

yea, i hear you guys. I just want to try to do something different around here. Tons of ppl have done Supras, ITRs, Cvics and S2000s. So i think i might go with the sileighty. And also, I've been modelling for about 5 years. So i dont think ill let the simplicity of the kit be a factor in this decision.

you asked for the models that get tuned the most, then you say that you wont do them coz theres enough around here. lol

first of all build for yourself, if you like S2000s and havent done one yet, then just do one ! enjoy building something you havent DONE. YOU are the one who will be looking at the completed car, not anybody else.
