Question 99 Alero cruise problem

99 Alero cruise not working. Checked fuses (all good), check linkage (wiring good), Checked switch (tests ok). Any ideas I'm out?

Check to see if you have a vaccum or electric motor style control unit. If you have a vaccum style then remove the vaccum line and (using a vaccum device) see if it moves the cruise cable and throttle. If you have a mechanical unit you will need to test for proper function by removing the connector and applying 12 volts to the unit by means of jumper wires. If it is not that then it is the control module or speed sensor.

vacume working: If I hold the cruise button in and set the cruise it works until I let go of the button.

Sounds like the condrol module. Ok, look at the brake switch, if it's working properly then go with the control module. It seems that it isn't locking. Keep me updated.
