driver's rear side window doesn't work

I just noticed a few minutes ago that my drivers side back window does not go up and down if using the controls on the back door or the driver's window controls. Every other window works perfect. Does anyone know what could cause this? I take it that it could be an electrical issue in the wiring or maybe the window's motor or maybe a fuse. But I would think that if it was a fuse, there would be more things on the circuit than just one window. Does anyone know how I would go about logically troubleshooting this so I don't spend a ton of money replacing things that don't need to be replaced?

The first place to look is to pull back the rubber around the bundle of wires in the hinge of your driver's door. Cracked wires where they flex in there seem to be culprit #1 with this stuff. Plus it's a free first step.

Well I happen to have the dealer's manual for this car and I found a section on troubleshooting this problem. It first had me use my meter and a test light on the door that was having the problem. That door tested OK. But then it had me test the driver's front door and that one didn't test OK. (Actually it did test OK... but the manual said if there was voltage at that connector that the actual window switch was bad.) But I plugged it back in expecting to have to replace it and it magically started working again. Now the rear window works fine. Before messing around with this, I tried just reseating the plugs and it didn't help. But for some reason, it's working now. I don't know if it was wiggling the wires that did it or just re-seating the plugs that did it. Or maybe it's a fluke and it will quit working again in a few days. But it's working right now and that is all that matters.

i have the same prob the driverside window doesn't work using the switch but all the others work, I completely took the switch apart and cleaned all the contacts but it works sometimes not all the time.

First I wanted to say thank you for all the info in this forum it has been very helpful and a great resource! I have a similar problem with my 97 AURORA. My drivers side window switch controls all the other passenger windows. They cannot go down on there own without me using the drivers side switch. I checked the breaker in the back, the fuses on the side and took the drivers door off and the front passenger door off. I did not see any loose wires but I did not check inside the black boxes where the wires go into. The 1st reply seems to be the next step I will probably try by dsatt12 (thanks) to avoid an expensive electrical repair by doing it myself. I have had the car almost 2 years and maintain the Aurora very well and then some. This car is probably the most underrated car I have driven and seen on the road but I have to say since I have had it, I have put a lot of money into it but to me its worth it. Any help is appreciated.

You don't by any chance have the Window Lock turned on? Or, maybe that's broken on your quad panel, and that's why none of the others work...

Hey Robert I did not mention that the window lock button has no effect also. Whether it is locked or not, they cannot control there own windows. Only from the drivers main control switch I can control all the windows. Also, is there such a thing as a breaker going half bad??? I dont think so. I have to check the boot next when I work on the car tommorow. The wires inside are the next step.

I have long had an intermittent problem with my driver's door window not responding. It clicks in the door, but won't go down. Then out of the blue it just starts working.

Now, I had another one time issue elsewhere and I accidentally took out, cleaned, and tested the relay for the power windows. I have had many less incidents since then. It's worth a shot anyway. I found my battery vent tube was broken when I went to replace my battery last year, so all sorts of things might have a little corrosion.

So, I don't know about going half bad, but it can probably make poor contact and cause flaky behavior. Either that or my loose wire inside my door vibrated itself into a happy position
