suspension..confused

so...i have been reading the forums A LOT and have some questions. i have a '93 civic, 2 dr, EX, and desperately need to do something about my suspension. i hear a deep clicking sometimes when i turn, but b4 anyone says anything, it is not the CV joints, which i personally checked, and have had replaced not too long ago. a few mechanics and others told me i have a strut broken in the assembly, and when i turn, the 2 broken parts are rubbing together...nevertheless, it is time to change the suspension. i want something i can drive everyday, and want a nice ride. local shops want 6bills just to put in standard gas shocks. i talked to A LOT of people, and i have decided on the tokico HP kit, with the non-adjustable tokico "blues" shocks, and lowering springs. i do not care for the drop, b/c i want a good ride quality, but think it would be wise to change them (car is 11 yrs old, springs are prob that old too)...how good is this kit? is it okay to change only the shocks? i have 17's on there now, and have rubbing in the back under the wheel well on sloped turns (b/c suspension is shot), but will it still rub (with or w/out the springs)? also, w/ 1.5" drop, will i need a camber kit? kind of tight for cash, but don't want the nasty tilted wheels and crappy ride. if i hav the kit installed, will it increase ride quality-stiffness, bumpiness?? i do not like the ride right now, and want it improved....sorry for the long post, but am reviving my baby (white 2 door, with 17" konig caffeines, DC sport shifter, AEM cold air intake). she got beat up in a hail storm (in San Antonio, Texas of all places!!!..**sad**...)...anyways, need help-oh, will be moving to virginia, if that makes a difference in the decision, thanks!! Any drop will decrease your ride quality some an 1.5 inches will make it a lot stiffer adn bumpier. Yuo will definetly need a camber kiit in the front and back. You should probably change the springs and shocks together to make sure that you can trust them to sand up. If you are tight on cash then keep saving until you have the money to do it right becuase doing things half assed ro buying crap components is always going cost more when the low quality/half done project blows up in your face. Not to mention if something were to fail at highway speed you very well might be dead.... something to think about.

Anywho, a camber kit may not be nessacery. Usually "1.8 or so is where that starts becoming an issue. Since you'll be getting a NON-adjustable kit desiunit, then you really may not need a camber kit since nothing should really ever change suspension geometry wise once you have the kit installed (i.e. you won't be adjusting ride height or anything such). ABSOLUTELY get a 4-wheel alignment on the car after the kit is installed, as lowering WILL make the toe of your wheels a bit off from factory specs. Toe is what will eat up your tires FAR worse and faster than just bad camber alone will. The kit your are getting sounds pretty decent. Another one that's similar by possibly better (quality and comfort) is the H&R cup kit. It's about $500-$600 I believe for that kit, and you can get it from off www.tirerack.com But I haven't heard anything bad about the Tokico kit either. Any kit you get that lowers the car, or adds in performance shocks will give the car a harsher and bumpier ride. But neither kits should be anything that will drive you crazy as far as being stiffer riding. Let us know what you decide on and check back if you have any more ?'s
