2000 GTP brake issues

I'm sure that I can't be the only person that has encountered this but I think it should be a recall item. I had a '98 GTP that when I slammed on the brakes, I bent the brake rod that goes into the master cylinder renderring my brakes useless and engaged at all times. Yesterday in my 2000 GTP I slammed on the brakes and suspect that I may have possibly bent the rod ever so slightly. The brakes seem to work fine but my brake lights will not disengauge. It appears that the brakes are back in the starting position but to anyone traveling behind me it would appear that I am riding my brakes, not to mention that when I turn my car off the lights are still on. I am relagated to pulling the brake light fuse to get them off. I am taking my car in today to see what could be the problem. I certainly hope it isn't an expensive one. Any suggestions on what to do. I see that the rod leading into the floorboard has this rubber boot with a cylinder shaped wheel in it that seems to spin on a threading. I tired to monkey with that thinking that it would somehow adjust things but I'm not sure if it is actually spinning on the threads?

wow i never heard of that but yea it seems like a problem. if your foot can bend a piece of steel i think it should be more sturdy. is your car under warranty b/c i'm sure that woudl be under it...im' guessing...doesn't look like your fault for a POS rod.

Re: 2000 GTP brake issues

how the hell do you do that?
you must have hit your brakes with a sledge hammer....I have slammed my brakes several times and nothing like that has ever happened.....

Jackie Stewart says smoother is quicker, for brakes and gas.
