Question 2003 Camry XLE gear shift problems

Just checking to see if anyone is experiencing any gear shift problems with the Camry XLE 03' model (automatic transmission)

Basically, If I am in park mode trying to put the car in reverse mode...it seems like it jams up...not letting me go in reverse...after "messing" with it for a while by pressing the brake sometimes or the accelerator pedal...it seems to release things and then I can put the car in reverse

This is becoming a "pain" now...actually I put the car in the shop today, but waiting to see what they find out

Re: 2003 Camry XLE gear shift problems

Haven't heard of any problems with the shifter on the Gen 5s until now. It sounds to me like either a bad shift-lock mechanism, or something broken inside of it. Let me know what you find out from the shop...

Camryman,
I have an 03 4-cyl Camry LE and no such shifting problems with my auto trans. It's going to be interesting to hear what your shop has to say.

I have a '02 Camry V6 SE and it just got bad yesterday. At first it was once in a while, but now I'm trying to get it to shift for around 2minutes before it'll go. Taking it into the shop tomorrow.
