small maintenance= big difference

I spent several hours yesterday claying my car. I first cleaned it well then step 1 in the meg's 3 step wax because it still wasnt real clean. (for future reference if your paint is as bad as mine was then the wax is hard to get off, so you might want to just clean it well and clay it) Then i clayed the car, cleaner waxed it and then used the eagle one nano wax (a little tough to get off if you arent on top of it, but great stuff). followed up by meg's detail mist. WOW!!!!! a friend of mine that drives by our house stopped to ask what I had done differently. It glows!!!!

Before i got to the outside I did some work under the hood. I was having problems with a very touchy pedal at low rpms. someone recommended that I clean the throttle body. It was pretty dirty. Easy job took maybe 15 minutes. While I had the intake system off i replaced the fuel filter. The hoses were amazingly hard to get off. Not a hard job if you don't have this problem though. The gas that came out of the filter looked black.. I have only had this car 2k miles. it has 100k on it and i dont think this filter had been replaced. it was bad. I put everything back together checked for leaks and ran the car to the car wash. WOW!!!! no touchy throttle... better acceleration.... sounds different even. More throaty sounding. And i replaced the PCV valve not sure how much effect this had but it needed changed bad too.

i read somewhere that a fresh PCV valve along with a fuel filter makes your car get it's balls back

I just spent three hours outside looking, but I didn't see any balls on my car. I guess I can't find them...

on a side note, Claying is GREAT, but DAMN is it a pain in the ass long process.

Re: small maintenance= big difference

It's easy to find on your 96; I'll take a pic of mine tomorrow and post it for you.

So because no one answered the first time to your threadjack, you felt the need to repeat it?
