Help! RPMs Bounce

Hey guys, this is my 1st post in this GP forum. I am having a problem with my 98 GP SE 3100. I was just wondering if it happened to anyone else or if anyone knew what it was. ok, whenever im going up a incline, the rpms bounce up and down slightly maybe like a 1/8 of an inch or more. You can hear and feel the engine pulling whenever it spikes. It bounces about every half second. I took it to a shop and they replaced my plug wires but it didnt help. They charged me $500 too!

My car does the exact same thing (1996 Pontiac GP 3.4 L). If you figure out what it is, please let me know and I'll do the same.

Re: Help! RPMs Bounce

No, happens every time during the same kind of condition. I ussually notice it when im going up a hill kinda. I'll hear this really slight noise and look down and its doin it. So I push the accelerator down a little and nothing happens, so I push it down a lot and the revs shoot way up and I start moving. It happens when the cars in cruise control too.

Re: Help! RPMs Bounce

Hey, I found this thread that might help anyone else with this problem since it seems to be pretty common. He said that cleaning the injectors fixed it.

I replaced the wires this weekend and the problem has gone away. The coil packs was going to be the next thing to replace, but the wires did it. Hope this helps.
