the VR-4's brake light is different because of active aero, but only the vr-4 has active aero. The SL does not need active aero and here's why. When the spoiler tilts, it creates more downforce on the rear wheels when moving, which is not good on a base or SL model because creating more downforce on a FWD car will decrease its traction. This is one reason why i have always questioned on why hondas put those aluminum ugly spoilers on the back of their car when it hurts there performance more then it helps it since they are all FWD cars

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

I dont wanna sound like a dumb ass but I've seen alot of proffessionaly built FWD cars with big wings. Personally I used to have a 94 Eagle Talon 2.0 FWD. up around 115mph that sucker used to feel real loose and drifty. I bought a big ass ugly wing and yeah it looked ricey but it fixed the problem. it felt stable up to around 130mph. Also what about that Celica built by APR? that is a big freaking wing. and last time I was in Japan I saw a bunch of celicas and Civic Sis and other FWD with big GT wings around the race track. Or is it because there really are that many gullibe people building cars?

Re: question before buyin a 3000gt

What I think, is that no matter a car is FWD or RWD or 4WD, a spoiler will improve the performance a little. And that's what all the professionals say too. No matter what car you drive, it's still a car, and it still has speed. When you go high speed, heck yeah you will need more down force and grip on the ground, if there's no down force, you car will "fly" a little, and when you turn, it will be a bitch. And yes spoiler give you more down-force in the back of the car, so I think all the front-mount engine cars are better to have a spoiler. There's enough weight in the front already, the freaking engine is there, and there's nothing in the back, so a spoiler will probably help. And Ferrari, their engines are right on top of the rear wheels, that's why they don't need spoiler, there's enough weight in the back already. But whatever I said, are just the things I learned from facts and people.

Damn, the things you guys said are interesting. I always thought that spoilers and "stuff" were just for show. Never knew there was a reason/point to them. Cool!

Haha, that's why most of the sports-cars come with stock spoiler.
