smoked taillights

does anyone know how to make smoke taillights my friends got a 02 civic just got a body kit for it and is getting the car painted charcoal grey (its a lexus color on the IS300) and he wants to smoke his taillights i told him i would help but we both dunno how to do it.

not the way we want them to be, he wants the kind where it looks black like there is no light but when you step on the brake it shows some red

Most of them you can pop apart and get a smoked spray paint for but its a real pain.

buddy of mine has a 99 GP and he got his tail lenses painted with the smoke color, so the stuff is out there you just gotta find it. I'll ask when I see him again tho.

There is a spray can product that will do what you are looking for, but I can't remember what it is (of course !!!). I sprayed the outside of all my lenses on my S10. I got mine from an automotive specialty store. Sorry, I couldn't be of any more help.

um actually i would go with the tail light covers that are smoked, much eaisier.
