spoiled friends

does anyone else have a friend who always seems to be edging them out in almost every situation? my friend gets his parents to buy him the most extravagant gifts for absolutely no reason. and i couldn't hate on him if they were just handing them over without his asking for them. but he nags the shit out of them until they give in.
when we were 14-15 everyone was getting 4 wheelers(ATV's) i was saving for a used yamaha warrior i had seen at a local place, i even got a paper route at 4:30 am every morning to save for it. then my friends parents go out and buy him a brand new Warrior with 0 miles on it while i'm still saving for mine. Then when we start getting our own cars and all i saved up for a used 1995 maxima and maybe a month after i get it his parents bought him a brand new fully loaded(-navi) Acura 3.2CL Type S. (which carried a price tag of $31,000.)
now we're all getting into motorcycles. my other buddy just got a used suzuki 600 something and i'm saving for an SV650S. My spoiled friend gets his parents to get him(for a first bike, mind you) a brand new Buell Firebolt XB9R(900cc). I remember when he first brought up the idea of a motorcycle to his parents, his dad didn't talk to him for the rest of the day, because he foresaw the nagging about to begin. and this continued on a daily basis for about a month or two til they gave in to buy him a new XB12R. see, he wanted an XB9R(which is still a sick ass bike) but they were all spoken for until into 2005. so he manages to convince his parents that he can learn on a 1200 just the same. He picks it up this Saturday.

yeah i know, i'm jealous, but can i catch a break too please? shit.

He will wake up and smell the roses one day. And you can be there to point and laugh.

Yeah, I hate spoiled kids.
I too, have had to work my ass off for anything I wanted. My family struggled to make ends meet when we moved to America, so we never had any money to buy extra goodies with. But it taught me to work hard and respect and take care of my things once I was on my own.

Re: spoiled friends

this is the bike he's picking up, for those who don't know. he's getting this exact model and color scheme.

Harley-Davidson sure makes one hell of a sport bike.

Well, if he's getting a 1200 cc bike to learn to ride on, then just wait a few weeks. If fate proves me correct, he'll be splattered on a car like a bug on a windshield. You can then have pride in yourself that you have a fully functional brain while his puny materialistic brain is lying in pieces in the road and splattered on a windshield.

Just a possible scenario. Though I wouldn't past anyone that gets a 1200 to learn on to lay it down at least once while still learning. The brain thing is pretty terrible, though. I've seen it a few times too. My grandma and grandpa own a wrecker service and I often ride with them during the weekends I'm not busy. I've seen quite a few things that would make a person cringe.

Re: spoiled friends

yeah i told him he should get a used bike to learn on and then get his buell later when he's more comfortable on a bike, but he's stubborn. he's not the type of kid to try going 100 on his first day out, though. I think any incidents will be relatively minor.

Once you get to a certain speed, it starts to scare the crap out of you no matter who you are. I'd predict the first laydown to be in a parking lot either practicing or parking. I'm just a wee bit stubborn myself (Ok, really stubborn), so I end up doing the same thing, just different objects instead of cars.

Re: spoiled friends

I don't know many spoilt kids. I just know some people who have rich f*kin' parents. But they don't always get what they want.

Re: spoiled friends

He'll only learn the value of a dollar when he hits rock bottom. You on the other hand have learned fiscal responsibility. You appreciate your belongings more than he ever will because you earned them. It'll all catch up to him one day and on that day, you don't want to be around.
