Re: bov without an intercooler?

You don't "need" an intercooler, in fact you don't "need" a BOV either, but both serve a very good purpose.

Re: bov without an intercooler?

You don't need a BOV under a certain pressure. What exact psi, you will find different answers. ~85-89 300zx's run something like 6-8psi and do not come stock with a BOV. Low pressure turbo kits as found on stock n/t cars (honda toyota etc) really don't need one... but try telling a ricer that their turbo doesnt need the PSSSTT.

Sure, you can have a BOV without an intercooler. They really aren't related, except for the fact that the BOV is usually (except 95 GSXracer) on the UICP. When a BOV is necessary, at decent boost, so is an intercooler... so you won't find many cars with only one.

Re: bov without an intercooler?

I dunno, but I agree 10.5sec92AWDTALON, you may not need one, but I wouldn't do without either one.

Re: bov without an intercooler?

WG has nothing to do with compressor surge Its only purpose is closed loop boost control.
