Re: Does O.Z ???

OZ makes the same rim in various different hub variations, what exactly are you looking for?

Re: Re: Does O.Z ???

Just wanted to know if they had those exact rims with lm on the side but I do like the style of the five spoke triangular rims.

Yes, they're still availible here in Norway.
Exact the same without the LM logo and in aluminium instead of magnesium.
If I remember correctly I think the name was GT comp.

I can check it out for you if you are desperate!

OZ commonly produces wheels specific for a manufacturer that are not available on the open market. While the LM wheel is a very close match to the OZ Chrono Evolution wheel, it's not exactly the same. Much like the wheels they made for the Focus RS which are only available through Ford, I'm certain you could not buy a set of the true LM wheels with the engraved LM logo without the proper qualifications and help from McLaren Cars. Besides, if you actually wanted to use them on something you'd have to find a way to adapt the centerlock hub as the LM wheel has no lugs.

Here's a shot of the Chrono Evolution which is the closest thing I think you'd be able to get:

In the USA, the Chrono Evo retails for a little over $250 per wheel in an 18x7 size which is smaller than the LMs wheel.

Here's a link to a 1000x1000 sized image of the wheel:

If you want the Magnesium wheels from O.Z.'s racing division... expect to spend about $2000-$2500 per wheel.

The O.Z. Magnesio wheels in 18x13 (rear spec for GTR) actually weighs less than a comparable 17x10 wheel in aluminum with the exception of Volk Racing TE37 and SE37.

If you are looking for a set of knock-off/centerlock wheels, then like Peloton says, you will need to get a centerlock adapter. And be sure to get a torque bar that will torque to 400 ft/lbs.

For "normal" street wheels the Chrono Evo is the closest you're going to get.

Re: Does O.Z ???

Carbon fiber wheels are a bad idea where there's heat involved. Most bonding agents used melt on the 650-700 deg F range, and if you're using the brakes hard, it's easy to go over this temp. Melting wheel centers = not good.

Re: Does O.Z ???

i'm going to study engineering next year, and at the technical university in delft, they have there own, formula student/sae race car. their car is by far the lightest car in the competition, 125 kg (lift it up by the rear axle ) and their rims are made of a machined aluminium heart and spokes, which is screwed to a carbonfiber outer ring. very cool, very light, and the thing is very very fast. and i'm a team member next year

Re: Does O.Z ???

On a Formula SAE car, you can get away with the design of the wheel that was used. By having the aluminum center, that eliminates most of the issues that a CF wheel would have. The others are resolved that the car probably will not see prolonged high heat brake conditions only being in the 200kg range with driver.
