need help with air conditioner on 95 Golf

Hi y'all, the AC compressor on my 95 VW Golf will not come on. If I short it, cold air comes out because the blower works, the system is fully charged, the fuse is good and the switch works, but no power goes to the compressor for some reason. A friend told me that there are two temperature sensors in line but the Haynes manual was a waste of $$$ Any ideas before I have to break down and take it in? Thanks.

Try this first. Check fuse #6 (30A) #19 (30A) and #4 (15A) under the dash, then go under the hood to the left side of the engine compartment to find the coling fan control module (it has a 4 pin and 10 pin connector). It also has 20A and 50A fuse and controls the compressor clutch.

Is there a relay for the AC system too? My haynes manual seemed to suggest there is but the spot is empty.

There is no A/C relay that I'm aware of. You should have it checked for proper refrigerant charge.

Found my problem. There is a shut-off switch on the side of the engine that shuts off the AC when the coolant temp gets too hot. It malfunctioned and I need a new one. In the meantime I shorted it and the AC is ice cold. Thanks for your help.
