change oil indicator lamp

i have an 02 Yukon and the indicator lamp has come on indicating change oil req'd-
Have tried reset- no success-
When the key is in the run position- first lamp is the battery lamp then 10 seconds later the change oil lamp comes on-
Any advise appreciated-

To reset the oil change indicator- turn the ignition to the ON position (do NOT start) and push the gas pedal to the floor and release three times within ten seconds. Oil change indicator should flash, indicating it has been reset.
