bearings

sorry to keep buggin you guys about my rear-end but im really trying to not screw stuff up. the axle bearings at the ends of the axle-tubes (farthest from the diff), how do those come out and go it. i have a slide hammer and it looks like i can just muscle them out. is this how you do it? also how do they go back in? will the bearing only go so far or do i have to measure how far its supposed to be? little help please...

dont really know bout the 4th gens. but according to my chilton's manual for 3rd gens, you have to remove the seal first then pull the bearing out with a slide hammer. then install them with a bearing "installation tool" but a hammer and a punch should get it back in there. i'm assuming there's a probly a seat that wont let ya drive it in there too far
