Re: ferrari 575 GTC

There should be more variations in the shading. Right now it goes from one extreme to the other. It seems as if there are no reflections at all, just a few highlights. Reflections entail varied darkness of grays. Lighter, light, medium, dark, darker. On your drawin you have, two colors. Light, and medium.

Its a fairly good drawing, Im just trying to help you on the shading.

its just something you see on the car that reflects from somewhere else...for example...a road...you see a road on the side of the car.

or another car. you can have your car drawn, and on the side you see another cars reflection

i think you just need to improve the shading

dark to light...

post the original.

I your drawing from a ref pic you didn't need to ask that question. Thats a amature concept designers question. You just have to draw what you see, as you get more control from your arm, you will be able to draw more detail, meaning you spend longer on your drawings, and you end up with a better result. At the moment you seem to shade half tone the body, all the dark parts black, and then highlights with a rubber. If you want to improve, try and do a drawing without a rubber.

Hi koganei_hikaru

Like some mentioned before, You have one tone for the entire car so it makes the car look flat and not 3D.

Thom Taylor's book How to Draw Cars Like a Pro talks about shading w/ the 123 rule. In most cases you have 3 over all tones on a car due to the single source of light (the sun, if outside). Go to Barns&Noble and check out his book, read the chapter 7 titled, "Light Source" pages 52-53. You might want to buy the book (HC) online if B&N doesn't have it in the store.

http://search.barnesandnoble.com/boo...NL&cds2Pid=946

Get the hard cover. Only B&N carries it (hard cover).

Re: ferrari 575 GTC

car is not bad. umm. well. ok. the wheels. those are weak. you almost, just, nearly, have them. but they are out of symmetry. look at them again. get a model of the car, or any car, and look at spoke patterns and distance from base of spokes to hub center to outer edges. see how they interact when you force perspective upon them by moving the model in front of your face at different angles, in a fluid motion. see that?

the front glass reflections have no rhyme or reason, yet....

but you have a nice emerging sort of overall style and you draw pretty good at this point. your lines and their respective constructions of form and proportions are really nice.
