This thread is bullshit.
It implies that 'nature' has made a moral judgement on human social activities. This is about as valid as my microwave oven disapproving of my choice of food for dinner. STDs are just viruses or bacteria which have found a particular niche in which they can live. Microbes, like any life form on earth are adaptable and opportnistic. They found a place to live, that is either inconvenient or fatal to people. Its no different than catching the common cold or pneumonia. |

Re: STDs - Nature's punishment for promiscuity?
ya, but had someone down the line not made the mistake of having intercourse with something infected there would be no way we would have these std's today

Re: STDs - Nature's punishment for promiscuity?
I love how Oz just starts a thread and leaves without his opinion
![]() Anyways I don't think that nature is a thinking thing that knows enough to punish sexual activity. Sex is natural...how about that |

AIDS does not discriminate between the virtous and the promiscuous. Getting AIDS does not mean you have been a morally 'bad' person, just unfortunate. If you are looking for microbial justice, lets work on a fatal virus that only kills murderers, child molestors etc, |

As for AIDS, I agree totally (and then some) with what MagicRat said. If one looks up STDs, you would be surprised at all the types there are. Here and Here After looking at the list, I'm surprised people even touch each other. ![]() It could also be that Oz is pulling our mind strings, he posts the question and at the same time he posts that quote of scoring with sheep.

Re: Re: STDs - Nature's punishment for promiscuity?
Quote:
(It never occured to the rest of us that sex with animals is a possibility. Do you think about sex with animals often? )A bite from an infected monkey is much more likely. The first recorded case of human AIDS was in 1959. A sailor from a merchant ship was hospitalised in London for pneumonia and died quite quickly. He was not gay, but had recently returned from several African cities where locals were selling caged monkeys as pets. He never bought one, but as caged monkeys can be nasty. As he did not respond to treatment, they kept tissue samples. Researchers did not look at those samples again until about 10 years ago at which time the AIDS virus was detected. So, we are all fortunate that the AIDS virus did not get into the general human population earlier. |

Sometimes you can't break that stereotypical mode some people have of others, no matter what one says.Hey Raz I know that, which led me to think its just a mind game.

Re: STDs - Nature's punishment for promiscuity?
think it all has to do with the rainforest...they're chopping down trees unleashing animals that are infected that in turn bite humans infecting them...
i'm happy i didn't catch anything during my "fun" years...but that still doesn't mean that it can't accidentlly happen... but i don't think itz something that was created to condem humans...i think it was always there...and us being human...cut and destroyed until we found it and as always...test and research on people and animals till our hearts consent...or until itz made public
