Looking at a Trans Am

I know I've bought this up before, but I didn't get that many responses and was a ways off from where I am now. So, I am going to look at an 89 GTA next week. What are some things I should be aware of when looking. It's a 305 5 spd. In terms of standard wear and tear, defects, or common problems. Thanks in advance.

Re: Looking at a Trans Am

look for even tire wear, clutch stiffness, smooth power devilvery, smooth shifting, no creaks or groans in the suspension, look at the shock absorbers, make sure they are not wet and leaking fluid. make sure the breaks dont squeek, pop the hood, after driving, look for wet spots, or a considerable ammount of crud built up. ask for maintenance records if he/she has. drive it hard at least once, to make sure it is solid. and most of all, enjoy it.

Re: Looking at a Trans Am

i had a t/a 5 speed w/ 305 before, and the damn transmission did not get into 2nd sometimes, so make sure you shift in every gear many times, these T-5 transmission is not that reliable i guess.
