Re: super or turbo

well, im not aware of a supercharger kit but i could be wrong. turbo kits are also scarce but alot easier to put together from scratch check this site out if you wanna know what you need http://auto.howstuffworks.com/turbo.htm.

Re: super or turbo

None are made. I suggest piecing together your own turbo kit if you have the knowledge and intellect. Judging by asking the question im going to assume you dont know how to find custom parts of people who would fabricate them for you. Plus in the end if you are going to turbocharge an escort you might as well just buy a new car.

There was turbo parts and a supercharger kit made and sold by Knight's-Turbo, it was'nt the greatest, but there was one.
Plus there are 2 OEM turbo manifolds avalible, being that the 1st gen Escorts came from the factoy turbo'd, and the UK spec Escort RS Turbo parts will work on the US spec.

And how would you know that a buying a different car instead of turboing a Escort would be the right answer? How many Turbo Escorts have you made?

300hp from stock internals does'nt sound to shabby to me, plus the fact that there around 2000-2300 lbs, that will put you deep into the 13's, maybe even quicker.

Re: super or turbo

stuck with an escort?

2003 Si 19k 15.7 1/4
2003 ZX2 12k 15.7 1/4

zx2 + turbo and custom tuning = 318whp and for 20k total thats 1k more than the price of a new Si

there is a way to turbo the escort but u need a new engine. I have heard about a engine called the SPI-T. its the same size engine you have in your car now but its strong enough for a turbo. I havnt found it anywhere yet, but i cant wait to see it.

You dont need a new engine. There was never a SPI-T produced, but you can make one, just get a SPI motor and turbo it, then you have a SPI-T, that's why you have'nt found one.
