??? Starter Delay ???

Something odd has just started happening... for no apparent reason.

Now, when I start my 95 YJ Sahara, I turn the key and there is a delay of about 2-3 seconds before the starter engages. There is NO NOISE prior to that (no solenoid clicking or anything), just after a delay, the starter engages and starts normally.

I put a meter on the battery, and it never drops below 10 volts during the whole process (only drops to 10+ when the starter actually engages... otherwise it's 13-14)... seems there's nothing wrong there. The lack of clicking prior to engagement leads me to believe it's not the starter solenoid (maybe I'm wrong there).

I haven't gone any deeper into it yet, thought maybe someone could point me in a good direction to start...

I had the same problem too. On the starter there is a "trigger " wire that comes from the ignition switch. I pulled off the spade connector and cleaned it, problem solved. it might help.
