the ATF in the vaccum line TEST

well..i have a car laying around that i don't use..and well..i tried the ATF thing that u supposely put into a vaccum line...i did it...an awful lot of bluish smoke came out..damn it looked like if it was on fire....there was no harm to the engine whatsoever and well...i didn't notice any performance increase...and to see if it cleaned the intake i'll have to take it apart...

if u guys wanna try out...go ahead...but be aware that it creates a shitload of smoke...

just FYI

O.o i've never heard of that before... doesn't sound all that good to me.

there is stuff that you can buy to do that, though... sea-foam i think it's called... that cleans out your carburater. you can also put it in your oil and gas tank, afaik... it's pretty cool stuff.

but as far as ATF? sounds scary to me

Yes it does make a lot of smoke I do that to my friends cars when I work on them. Drain all the oil, fill with trans fluid, run engine a few minutes, the detergants in the trans fluid are rumored to clean the crankcase.

yea everyone says to do that BUT do NOT keep it in there too long because it will deteriorate your seals. It works as good as motor flush, but to not keep it in there too long....

Why not just use the correct chemical? keep up on maintenance & you wont have to worry about it.

Re: the ATF in the vaccum line TEST

ever seen one of those discovery channel shows in which they test myths? i'm trying to see if it is true...if u got the money and time..the best thing to clean up the engine is to take it to a machine shop./...the cheapest is transmission oil, which everyone has at they're home....weather it'll work or no one really knows......

anyways...if u feel like giving me money for sea-foam...go ahead and send it
