how hard is it to swap an engine?? is it a matter of using a simple wrench and screw driver??? or do you need to fab up stuff to make the swap work????

Re: how hard

You want to swap a KA to a KA? Or you want to swap from a KA to a SR20DET or something like that?

Re: how hard

How much expirience do you have? How much reading and research have you done? There should be a lot of websites telling you what to do. Do some reading and then decide if you can do it or not.

If you are not very experianced then your car will probably have a lot of down time, you will need a way to get the engine out of the car (cherry picker). Make sure you are ready for a lot of down time (weeks) and be prepaired to tow the car to a shop if things go bad.

Re: how hard

I've got over $3000 in tools, (150psi compressor, 3ton engine hoist, tons of wrenches, hand tools and tons of other shit), and guess what, I never have enough tools, every time I am working on something I always end up going back to craftsman for something I am missing. You need experience or you will fuck up something. better get a friend or friends who know about cars, have an engine swap party. this is when the host buys the beer at least 3 six packs, and not some wimpy shit. The others bring the man power and the extra knowlege......well......in your case they bring all the knowlege.

Re: how hard

yea thats the spirit get wasted and install some engines and find out u forgot to tighten that one single last god damn bolt and die on the highway...good thinking ill call my friends now. j/k the only way to work on cars is with a nice case of beer.....just be resoponsible.

yea it sounds like u should be contacting a shop near you....unless u can spare alot of down time.

Re: how hard

Onething to help you out is go to http://www.heavythrottle.com and at the home page there is a "index" type of thing on the left side. Anyways, go to where it says "SR Install FAQ" click that and read it. I have read that 3 times. It will help out alot and take some worrys off of ya. Think of the swap as being something new and fun. But most of all...not scary or hard. Think of it like buying a lapdance for your car. Something that it will love you and you can love too. Just dont worry man. Have fun with it.

And for you SR240Z...your 240z is freak hot. I'm likin it alot dude. And that red-top sittin in there ready to beat someone. Nice job!

Re: how hard

Listen it ain't hard, I pulled out the engine out of my SHO (like the one in my sig), and I did it all by my self, took me 4hrs. with my friends it would be half the time. pulling out and installation is not that difficult as long as you remember what goes where, but tools will be your biggest down fall. Without enough of the right tools, especialy if you don't have a tool box of your own already, borrow one or take it to a shop. you need tyhe right tool. and buy a chilton manual, tell you how to remove the damn thing anyway.
