Honda have lost the Plot with the S2000

If I wanted a Miata on Steroids I would have bought one!
I love the edgy high rev 120Bhp/litre power of my 01 S 2000.
If you want torgue and a boulevard cruiser then get a 350Z or chrysler sebring!

We were told that the S 2000 will remain a limited production super car. Now they are offering the 2.2 litre 04 with girly head lights and oval pipes, weak looking wheels and wait for it.. More shoulder room!
all at discounted price (due to over supply).

The original designer of the S2000 must be cursing the bean counters at honda under his breath.

In short the original S2000 was to be a high tech sports car at the leading edge for enthousiasts, not weekend cruisers. We want the carpet coverd Transmission tunnel (like the true original British sports cars).and the minimalist interior. We want our sports car back we must have at least 9000 RPM!

Well, I agree in some way. But Honda tries to make money, cashiola, so it makes a more livable performance car so it appeals to a broader range of public.

I understand that. But Honda presented this car to us with great fanfare in 99 as a purist limited edition sports car. They also stated that they will be "Limiting" supply to the US to about 5000 cars per year. A lot of enthusiasts paid 10K or more over base in 2000 for the S2000 because they were told that this WILL be a limited production car.
But the accountants obviously stepped in when they saw the sales potential. The good thing is that the 01, 02 and specially the early 03 models will be sought after by people like me.

What are you complaining about? You want the car to be limited, yet you are complaining when they are changing the engine to a 2.2 w/ lower redline? When they make the changes to the new models, 2 liters will be very much more limited. I am glad that they are making the change even though I would rather have the f20c. The early years of the s2000 will sought after by purists like us.

The limited I was refereing to was the production numbers. Having said all, even the softy 04 is better than anything else in it's class!

I have just read it! well on the bright side the real S2ks will become classics while the suits in Honda keep massaging the the 04 into a fat little bunny. It also looks like they have killed the long awaited NSX replacement! We need new management in Honda's Product as well as PR dept. For example in The New York auto show they had the S2000 next to lawn mowers and little generators! Who decides that people will respect Honda brand more when they find out Honda also make lawn mowers!
I love the Honda brand and heritage and think they are the best of the Japanese. I would love to be let loose in the organisation for a week or two and shake things up a bit.

Hey, i was wondering about the s2000 hardtops. I here from my friends that the hardtops come with superchargers and i can't find that online anywhere, so i was wondering, is it true?

And that's why we like them. They make efficient engines that produce more HP per litre which also translates in better Gas mileage.

since i am not a honda enthusiast i will not fully understand some of your comments but..

the s2k is a poor car in my opinion because most 15second midsized cars with an aftermarket air filter and exhaust can show the s2k their taillights on any dragstrip. im not here talking shit but im trying to give you guys my point of view and a little of Honda's point of view.Honda is going full swing on the s2k just because they are like every other car company.. they arent making money. Through the grapevine i heard that Chrysler is pulling funds for Mitsubishi so they are also a dying company. Ever seen the 4th gen concept of the eclipse... pitiful. the first generation and the 2nd generation eclipse were and are awesome cars..

so the point of all this jabbering is dont get too pissed off about your favorite car turning "ghey" or "selling out" because it happens to all cars at some point.

im gonna go ahead and guess that all cars in 10 years from now are going to be mid sized turds with 2door/4door options.

the s2ks are actually selling well, but they read people and mag articles complaining of a lack of decent mid rang [pre vtec]...honda figured if they fixed this they'll get even more buyers than they are currently getting as it still revs high, makes same power now with a bit more torque.

a 15second car with exhuast and intake suddenly runs low 14s?! what are you smoking.....a hondata,intake,header,exhuast RSX-S with weight reduction will be hard set to show tail lights to an s2k and thats about the fastest 15s car you can get with mods besides anything F/I....

Mitsu is a huge company, even without chryslers money they aren't going anywheres for a long time...thier not even close to 'dieing'...and that crappy eclipse concept has the ability to make 400hp+, AWD, half electric and gas....and at a resonable price....thats a great leap forward for fast gas efficient sports cars....

Thats a CONCEPT. Most of them dont come out in productions.
