Damping

I have been wondering this whole time what makes Dynamat more expensive than Secondskin, other than the fancy brand name. I am planning on buying the 20 sq/ft pack of Second Skin Damplifier and was wondering if its better than most other damping products. You get way more for much cheaper compared to alot of other companies...and if it does the job just as well as them, that would be awesome. 20 sq/ft should easily cover the trunk lid, sides, under the box and maybe even parts of my front doors shouldnt it?...In my Neon obviously...Any input would help.

Worst case scenario, buy a can of Super 77 or Super 90 from wally world, that stuff will adhere anything.

PaulD is on the money. Another thing about the more expensive stuff is that it is more plyable. It is alot easier to stretch and conform some of the "higher end" sound dampners. That really is just for ease of installation. Here are a few good pointers. Make sure the metal is very clean. I use laquer thinner or denatured alchol before application. Also..this part sucks but really helps. Try to do it on a very hot day. Lay the pieces of material adhesive side up in your driveway for as long as you can. The heat will make the material stretchy and the adhsive is activated by heat. A good roller always helps and so does a heat gun. Be careful not to burn yourself and be careful when putting it down around places like the seat bolts and door panel clips. Remember you have to put the car back together afterwards.
