batery problems.....

Hey yall just wondering if anyone else has had the same problems as me.. Well lets start with last week my girlfriend took my car out to the store and when she parked it she left the lights on for a total of 10 min. and the batery went dead so she had someone push her and then catch the car in gear. Now she drove home and told me about and I really didint believe her becase the car started right up for me and had allways been fine.. Now yesterday I took the car out and left the lights on for a total of 15 min max and the battery went dead again ( i had to jump it in gear) Now I am guessing either the battery is bad or the alternator. I leaning more towards the battery because after I got the car running once I got home the car starts up just fine and has since yesterday.. Sorry I wrote so much but has anyone else ever had any problems with their batery I am not sure if it is but it might be the original batery in the car....

Re: batery problems.....

a good way to check alternator:
start the car and disconnect the battery...if the car dies...the alternator is bad....

also, if u live in the US, u can take the battery to an autoparts like autozone or discount auto parts and they'll test it for ya free of charge

Re: batery problems.....

DO NOT DISCONECT BATT WHEN ENGINE RUNNING!!!!YOU RISK BLOWING ALTERNATOR --E.C.U.--AND OTHER PARTS.it seems your battery is being charged o/k by the alternator, but may well require a good charge up and test.

Re: batery problems.....

I just bought a new battery and said the hell with it. I think it might have been the orginal battery in the car, so I am better of this way.. Thanks for trying to help though..

yea your batt was just weak. My old batt would die pretty quick when leaving the lights on. It sucks to have a bad/low charging battery when you're sitting through a movie at a drive in movie theater which uses your radio for sound Did I mention I have a sub? lol learned the hard way but I have a jump pack in the back of my car now which is awsome. This new battery is awsome and almost never goes dead. It cost me about 100 bucks though. The Optima batteries. Never died on me yet even after working on my car for 6 hours with my system on pretty loud in my garage and car of course, being off

yeah I was going to get an optima I have been told they are purty good but it would have cost $110.00 so I just bought an exide for $50.00 and it's got a longer warenty.. Also I got 2 12inch subs in the trunk, under car neons and interior neons i think that might have too much for my old battery hopefully this one does ok...
