A bad Spin-out, 93 3000gt base model, Watch out!

I just spinned so bad today with my 3000gt base model. I don't know how it really happened, but it's hard to believe that a front wheel drive car can spin so easily. But I'm sure I know why my car spinned so bad, it's probably because my back tires are almost gone, and I was trying to accelerate at the turn, with my steering wheel turned too much. It was a right curve, there were 3 lanes, I was on the very left lane. As I entered the turn, I accelerated while I was turning, then suddenly I lost control, and my car went sideway to the right. So I counter-steered immediately to the left, but my car spinned to the left side. Then the front passenger side bumper hit the wall in the middle, then the back passenger side bumper hit it, and my right side exhaust tips went in and hit the control arm. I felt so stupid, because I didn't expect 3000gt Front wheel drive model would spin so bad. Because I had a mirage before, it's dropped, with 16s, and I could turn at least 2 times faster than how I turned today with my 3000gt. And the mirage never spins. I think the main reason that my 3000gt spins so bad is because my tires got no grip, which I didn't realize, and this car is heavier than the other cars I drove. So just want to let you all know, be real careful when your tires are bad, it can be deadly. I was so lucky becuase there is a wall between the 2 sides of the rode, so I didn't go on the other side.

Re: A bad Spin-out, 93 3000gt base model, Watch out!

Oh thanks man, lucky my car doesn't have that much damage. The front bumper passenger side has a deep scratch, easy fix. The back bumper passenger side has a deep scratch also, fixable. The the passenger side front a back fenders have a little dent and paint chip, I guess I'll hammer them out. But I think the worst part is the muffler, the right side tips totally went in and the pipe hit the control arm of the wheel, the control arm is bent a little, but luckily the wheel didn't tilt, so it's still drivable. But I guess I gotta change the piping of the right side. Any tips on that? I'm thinking to just cut the whole muffler out, and just put a single muffler on the left side for now. Because I'm broke. Thanks for reading! people

Hey man, glad you're okay. That's gotta be freaky. Happened to me once when I was in the freeway....ran into the center divide on I-80....luckily it wasn't my GT. But hey, don't hammer out your dents because if you were to get it fixed by pros, it'll be easier (and probably cheaper) for them to fix a dent than for them to have to fix a whole bunch of bumpy dents due to the hammering.

That sucks man, I've spun my vr4 and it is some pretty scary stuff. Glad you're ok though. If you want a new exhaust, check www.3si.org, some people when upgrading exhuasts, sell their old catbacks on the parts for sale section. You could throw on a vr4 catback and pick up some hp gains while your at it, and it should only set you back about $75 plus shipping.

Thanks for all your sugestions, people. Because I just bought this 3000gt 6 days ago, and I didn't even start to know where I can get the parts from. I guess I learned my lesson of driving fast this time, haha.

How fast were you going? I was in a fender bender this past weekend, no real damage and lucky it was in my 4Runner and not my baby (who I finally got plates for yesterday )! I was so glad the lady I rear-ended didn't want to bother with insurance. Fucking brakes didn't hold! It was supposed to be in the shop gettin alot of work but I decided to go see my girlfriend instead . Be safe folks, and glad you and your 3kgt are both in deecent shape HKmitsu!
