48 Buick car#2
Here's the preline drawing of the 48 Buick for that same stupid Buick thing I'm doin. (kidding). I'm going to transfer this at least one more time maybe twice before I transfer it to my inking paper and start the inking process.
I'm still indicating shapes and seeing how I want it to flow. I want it to look like it belongs with the other 2 cars in the design so I'm trying to use some of the same techniques and style-bits. In the next transfer I'll really start to simplify some shapes and define the car overall. I like the broken line look and I know the car sits back so being more graphic is a plus in this case. Here it is: Here's a detail so you can see how the shapes help define the objects. -Lemorris

Re: 48 Buick car#2
That will work great AL.
Remember to let the WCs dry completely and then micron, and then erase. I use a very similar method on some of my people toons.

Finally get to ink this 48.
This is convention week for my job and for the past 2 weeks I have been buried prepping stuff for the show. Anyway here's the inking start. Before you ask yes I am using tools. I used a ruler, a pen, paper, an eraser, curves, ellipse set, a plate, a chewed off fingernail, and some funyuns. Whatever it takes is what it takes. Whatever you have is what you use....everything is a tool...(including some of you hahahahaha) ![]() Sometimes I'll fill a large black area like the shadow because it makes me think I'm closer to being done, but I may save the big fills till the end so you can see how the fat blacks lock everything down. Here's a detail of that back tire again. ![]() Since the blacks aren't filled yet It's a little rough, but I know it'll lock down once I drop the K in. (CMYK....anybody????) I like how the little shapes flow into each other and help to form the larger object. -Lemorris

Re: 48 Buick car#2
CMYK, yep. Graphic artist right here. Why not make the wheel C or M? If its M it could look like a barbie bike.

Re: 48 Buick car#2
I got beat on being a graphics guy this past week. People were crawling out of the woodwork, but I got a lot done. I hope to finish this entire design including the 69 Buick this week.
I also landed a job for a VW club in Alaska and they want a Cartoon design. I grew up in Anchorage (19 years), and I'm really looking forward to getting on that job, but I gotta finish this for the Buick club first. Oh well.
