Most Powerful Engine???

What is the most powerful engine I can possibley get for my '93 Prelude?! I'm assuming it's some sort of VTEC. I heard it doesn't even have to be an engine from a prelude - but other honda engines can work in my prelude as well? Also, anyone know of any turbos or superchargers that would be worth the money? I think it would be sweet as hell to have my little lude pushing 300 or 400+ horse eventually (without nos). Thanks for any info!

That's a nissan engine - would it actually work in my Prelude??? 285 HP does sound nice... unfortunatly this one says it's both rwd and awd... no front wheel. Just out of curiousity - how much would it cost to turn my fwd car into an awd car? A rediculous amount? Here's one of those engine's on ebay:

Re: Most Powerful Engine???

You can make any car AWD. However, it doesn't work well if you are actually serious about straightline performance. You basically take the differential from a RWD car (if you have a FWD one)that has a similar rear and transplant it onto the current car. It takes alot of fabrication and wielding, along with experience with suspension design and bracket geometry. If it's not done exactly right, you will have one seriously fucked up car.

Lots of people talk about AWD conversions and how they're going to do it, but very few people do due to the cost and expertise required. That, and Civics are crap. If you want AWD, get an Eclipse GSX.

To answer your question, the most powerful engine for a Prelude is the Type-S and Type SiR h22a, which have a 220hp h22a block. This is a JDM block that is only available through a relatively easy conversion. It is a 2.2L DOHC inline four that features variable valve timing. Very nice.

Where can you find one of these H22's to buy. i'm still lookin' for one to buy. Found one for 1350 w/ everything but the ECU and the tranny. But the jdm H series bolts right on the F series tranny so that's not a prob. can get chipped ECU's for something around 100 bucks which is cheaper than a lot of stock p13's i've seen.

Re: Most Powerful Engine???

I have seen those around. I think they just have some head work done combined with stronger pistons and rods. One can duplicate the same thing with a standard H22.

Alright, well, I'm probably going to get an H22A1 engine then. I'm also going to get turbo put on afterward - this one, specifically, if I can. I emailed the guy and he told me with the stage 2, which was $90 added on to the price of the turbo, my power would total to 450 hp. Sounds good to me! My little lude with 450 horse, ha. Here's the turbo on ebay, tell me if you think it's a horrid idea, or if it sounds like it'd work alright: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2482749827
I currently have a 2.3 Si with all wheel stearing. This engine should work out okay with my car right? I'm sure it can't be worse than trying to put that nissan engine in it!

Re: Most Powerful Engine???

Well, I don't know too much about this whole topic, but the body of the lude is made to withstand a certain amount of specifications. Wouldn't putting all that horsepower on the body eventually wear it out? I mean thats a shit load of horsepower and it sounds just sooo good, but I dunno... it just seems like an awful lot for it.
