Another Free Mod for the Doityerselfer

So far on my list of free mods that have to be done, or are already done are removal of air silencer, j-mod the tranny, and port out the stock intake tube. Since my plan of using the TFS upper plenum wont work, i decided to work with the stock parts.

-Porting out your stock intake tube-
This is for 94 and 95 cars only, with the 4.6L V8, and that they are still using the stock violin case (The big black thing on top of the engine that says "V8 4.6L OHC")

Simply remove your "violin case" detaching all the hoses. You'll need a dremel for this, or alot of time with sand paper... dremel out the end where the MAFS and bellow are.

Here is what it looks like stock. About 5/16" thick.

After some sanding and grinding heres the out comes...

By removing the thickness and the lip of the violin case, it will reduce air turbulence, but to enhance the full effect of this, replace the bellow with a smooth bellow, (black hose that looks like a spring or a slinky that attaches to MAFS and the end of the violin case) and remove that funny looking thing down INSIDE the violin case.

Make sure to clean out the violin case of all dust and shavings from sanding, you dont want that crap getting in your engine.

For further info on the method of removing that thing INSIDE the violin case, check out http://home.flash.net/~rfm2/intake.htm

Awesome mod, especially for free... if my Z didn't have a plastic intake tube thing goin' on I'd do the same thing to it.
