Help!! Tranny Problems!
I have a 94 Ford Ranger Splash 2.3L 5speed manual. It had been sitting for about 2 years and it was wrecked (front fender/headlight) . I got to the point to where i can start it up and it runs great but there is a problem with the transmisson. i cannot shift into any gears when i try to shift into reverse it makes a horrid noise. i bled it and bled it thinking that was the problem. But I am thinking that its the slave cylinder. I was wondering if anyone had any links or info on how to replace the slave cylinder or how much it would cost to have a transmisson shop do it. Or if you think its something else all information would be apprecated.
Thanks |

Re: Help!! Tranny Problems!
Dude chill out, its possible that you have a linkage problem to your damn tranny. Or possibly since its BEEN SITTING FOR 2 DAMN YEARS that its started to rust or corode in the tranny which has destroyed the gears. Your probly lookin at a new Tranny.

Hrm, well I have a 94 Ford Ranger XLT, 5-speed, and mine is doing the same thing. The only difference is it started doing this yesterday and mine hasn't been sitting for any extended period of time.

Re: Help!! Tranny Problems!
I replaced the clutch in my '95 S-10 and was careful to follow the instruction manual regarding the hydrolic clutch cable and cylinder. Still after the job was done the I could not push down on the clutch pedal to shift. I had to get the hydrolics anyway. It was only at $75. But, those things sure seem delicate. Gimmie the old metal linkage I can understand and adjust...

Re: Help!! Tranny Problems!
ok if you are going to replace the slave sleeve it is easy. y9ou have to slide the tranny back. in the bell housing there are 2 or 3 bolts (cant remember) you pull those out remove the two hoses from the outside of the bell housing that is attached to it and then ****$*# blead the slave sleave with a pressure tank before sticking it in or have fun doing it after it is in***$*$*%% then you just slide it all back in place
