electrical or fuel or what?

My car generally runs decent (1990 CRX Si)... but lately something is causing a slight bogging down that only happens once in awhile. I think it might be electrical cuz it happened cruising at like 60mph then I turned on the headlights and it bogged (coincidence?)... WTF? I'm not sure though cuz my A/F guage is reading mostly lean unless I give it about 1/2 throttle. I prefer to just feather the accelerator (used to anyway). I was thinking clogged injectors (fuel filter was already replaced not too many miles ago) so I ran some injector cleaner yesterday (before the bogging with headlight turn on) since I recently changed my oil anyway. I guess I should wait and see, but it sux. Most might say my main relay is going south, and that could be true but what should I check out first? o2 sensor? Rotor? (pretty damn old), spark plugs?, timing? (don't wanna fuck that up). I know it's been throwing a code but I'm a moron and can't figure out the beeps (I keep resetting ECU). I wish I had some Honda friends locally... jeez. I do have a small oil leak that looks like it's coming from the head gasket above the no.4 cylinder but people keep telling me to replace the dizzy o-ring first before wasting money so I guess I'll do that. I'll try to take care of these things first. I just wish somebody could look at it without charging me all kinds of money because I really don't want to screw anything up.

Go to autozone and have your alternator output tested too, if you think it's electrical..... plus it's free, and it never hurts to know

Re: electrical or fuel or what?

look at you ecu...long flash=10-short flash=1. like if its one long flash and two short ones its 12. go to www.4thgenerationcivic.com to de-code the ecu or just replay with the code off the ecu and someone or myself with tell ya. If the main relay dont work or is going south(as you said) the check light will stay on and won't throw a code.Did your headlights dim,or is your tach freaking out(i mean is the tach going to 0rpm or is the tach lights not working)?? if your alternator is goin out those things will happen first.

Re: electrical or fuel or what?

yeah, I used some injector cleaner... and I think it's working. Not as lean anymore... and I've only used a 1/4 tank thus far. The ECU is blinking one short blink then stops and continues to do so... so I'm thinking the O2 sensor is fried. I don't know how old it is. I'm thinking on just getting a bosch replacement at auto part store. Somebody told me yesterday that the car would definitely run like "ass" all the time if the O2 sensor was fried. Anyway, an O2 sensor is easy to replace right?
