Re: y so slow?

id have to see you race to see what you might be doing wrong, maybe you're double shifting, or shifting too early.

i shoot off at about 5500 rpms but i dont drop it tahts the worst thing you could do cuz thats wheel spin out teh ass... i just let it out slowly off the last yellow light and then bam im gone but could motor mounts be slowing me down that much i know there bad just for the fact u can feel the motor move wheen u let off the gas pedal theres no broken motor mounts yet but if i do drop the clutch dear god i have wheel hop most of the way thru first gear depending on when the tires feel like grabing lol but still thats 17's motor mounts shouldnt slow me donw that much should they???? possibly...

Re: y so slow?

well I have energy suspension motor mounts and I still get wheel spin in first with out launching and half through second but it will help your ets alot if you have them in expecially when you combine them with the afx bobble strut then your motor wont move worth of crap and you will have more power to the ground. but launching at 5500 is just way to high if your not running on slicks..... try 3000 and dont punch it until you gain traction thats what I do

okay well i ordered the prothane motor mounts from modernperformance.com and i ordered the solid af/x bobble strut from howellautomotive.com hopefully that might help a tad how bad is the vibration with the af/x bobble strut?? think all this motor mount crap will even help? i hate money lol it always goes away 110.00 worth of plastic motor mounts and a steel rod LOL

thats still too high to launch at unless you have slicks try to launch at lower like 1.5k or 1.8k at the most. u want no wheel spin the more wheel spin the slower u will go I know it sounds crazy but just give it a shot

Re: y so slow?

It's gotta be something you are doing. Port and polish your headers. That will help your time too. Maybe you need gaskets and berrings replaced too if you have not had them done before now.... Motor mounts will help big time on wheel hop. Wheel hop is bad. Very bad. Check for vacuum leaks. That might be a factor too. If you havn't already, take off your power steering and A/C belts before you run. They take up valuable hp. Some weight reduction wouldn't hurt either.

thats too low 1.5 or 1.8 jezzzzus I know cars that idle higher than that if you launch at ; those rpms guaranted bogging buy if you launch at 3000 with out going full throttle until traction gained you will be fine, I launch at 2500 on the street dump the cluctch and floor it and I do fine, but on track its more slick so you would have to play with it alittle

Re: y so slow?

If you launch at 1.5 or 2 you need to ease out the clutch and roll into the throttle as your launching. That will help keep from bogging down and will keep wheel spin down.
