fuel guage problem
I've got a "86 with the MT5 cluster...tach and all . The fuel guage is past full by a quarter of a tank...I changed the cluster only to have it jump in the same place
All the guages work except the #$%^gas gauge any ideas of the problem? BTW I just got it from an estate sale and it seems to be in great shape...I just don't want top run out of gas

Re: fuel guage problem
Have you checked the sender? This would be a part of the in tank fuel pump assembly and would require a fuel tank drop, probably. Don't know what the correct readings should be but I would think somewhere in the 0 to 100 ohm range. I believe 0 ohms (on a VOM) would be empty and the higher resistance would be full or not empty depending on the fuel level in the tank.
