"stage" turbos

whats the difference between the different "stage" turbos. i always hear people say stage 3 turbo and stuff.

It's a marketing term and means very little except where the company manufacturing the kit places one particular kit in relation to their other kits. The stage scale is not absolute and varies hugely from company to company, while one company may call a kit a stage 2, another may call a similar kit a stage 3. Ultimately the only thing that matters is what you get in the kit, don't base your decision on stage numbers.
