300C Hemi vs. SSEi
I've got a '95 Bonneville SSEi (supercharged, approx. 220/230 HP, 250 lb-ft torque) And I am somewhat of a leadfoot driver, with at least moderate to powerful acceleration almost all the time; but rarely do i put the pedal all the way down.
I was driving around the other afternoon, and pulled up to a light next to a Chrysler 300C (I didnt realize it was a hemi -- yet) I looked over at a guy and his wife who were probably in their mid-50's, but the guy looked pretty confident behind the wheel. When the light turned green, I started off in my usual half-a-pedal or more acceleration, then heard the slightest chirp from the 300 sittin next to me. As soon as I heard that, I hit it, then stole a quick glance over, and saw the "300 Hemi C" badge on the fender. (340 HP, Torque -??) I figured "well this race is over, but hey, why not" Well he started pullin me a bit, but I never fell any further back then his rear fender. It seemed pretty even from 60 on, but we only got up to about 70/75 before we had to slow for the light a few blocks down, so I don't know what would happen north of 75. I was actually quite suprised that I was able to fare this well against the 300. I figured he would jsut leave me in his exhaust, and that would be the end of it. So maybe it's just that his car is that heavy(?) or that its really not all that fast, or that he wasn't really going as hard as I thought. Whichever way, I was pretty happy to have stayed on the fender.

Re: 300C Hemi vs. SSEi
They weigh aproximately 2 tons, but that car of yours isn't exactly a lightweight either. Nice race.

Nice run, that sounds about right. '95 Bonneville SSEi has more juice then that...240 hp 260lb/ft torque.
That would've been alot of fun north of 75...the Bonneville's got great highway gears. The 300 is much heavier then you, but also has much more power. Would be pretty close. The only problem is that your car is so much older....New VS New would be even better! Nice job

I looked in MotorTrend, Car and Driver... finally in Road&Track I was able to find times for it.
Best I could find was 14.1 sec. clocking at 101mph. Considering the weight of the vehicle, and torque... it's all in the gearing. Thanks to a 5 speed automatic, I'm sure it gets out of the whole pretty quick. It's by no means a race car though... It just happens to out pace a 350z in the quartermile.

I'm impressed that you fared as well as you did good race. From higher speeds though I think it would have been a way worse beating for you though I hear they have good top end power. Wait until the srt-8 comes out though

They have the srt-4 neon the srt-6 crossfire and the srt-10 viper they are making a hopped up hemi too. It might only be in the doge magnum but I thought I heard about a chrysler 300 one though. Still a concept but i think it will happen. 430hp hemi with a whipple supercharger.
Here is an article
