1995 S500 Auxiliary Fan Stays On

The fan in my parents 1995 S500 stays on indefinitely sometimes after the car is turned off. The problem is intermittent and usually goes away after a day of sitting with the fuse out. I think it is either the phase 2 or the phase 3 relay that is sticking and keeping current flowing when it should be off.

Does anybody have any more information on these relays? location? number of phases and relays?

I found a website selling a phase II relay for $51 and if the problem is phase II, that sure beats the $300 the local MB repair shop wants to charge for a new relay.

They took it in a couple of weeks ago but the repair shop had the wrong relay. The one they had was designed to work in a S320. Maybe this will give more insight to the type of relay needed. Supposedly the correct one is discontinued and not manufactured anymore explaining the difficulty of obtaining the part (bad luck on that website having the right part).
