Oil change interval

Is anyone changing their oil according to the DIC? So far mine has run 10-12k before the change oil light comes on. I am using Mobil 1 but I am not so sure I trust this computer thing. Prior to this I had been a 3-5k guy. Could this be a Gm thing to sell new engines or parts prematurely? I hope not. Never had an internal engine problem ecxcept on a 73 Ford Cleveland. Lifters and timing chain. What do y'all think?

Change it 3k to 5k

I have had about 9 new cars or suv's over the years and have always changed mine at 3k. For no more than it cost I believe it is cheap cost to maybe save you a ton of money later if you go with factory suggestion of 10k to 12k.

I now have an 03 Trailblazer and with the deal I got lifetime oilchanges at the GM Dealer. And guess when they suggest I change the oil? Yep, every 3k and they pay for it.

Stay with the 3k to 5k and you will be glad you did.

According to the Chicago Tribune auto guy, someone asked the same question.....

He said to go by the vehicles computer. He said that there is nothing wrong with changing the oil every 3000 miles or 3 months, but oil now a days is more advanced & the vehicles computer will be a better judge to when it is time to change out the old for fresh.

My thought on the matter.....all depends on how you drive. Alot of stop & go or do you do alot of highway miles? If it is stop & go, stick with every 3000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first.
If you do highway driving, you can extend the changes to maybe what your computer says, but I personally would never push it that far. The oil, while more advanced from yesterday's oil, will still start to break down after the 3 months or 3K. Just remember, it is always going to be cheaper to change the oil, not the motor. Personally, I would stick with the 3 & 3 method. If it is more highway, then maybe strech it to 5K, but never anything more.
The computer is a nice idea, but I still don't want to chance it.

Just my
