Angry Transmission Problem ?

Ladies and Gentelmen ! I am new as of this date to this forum ! I have a 1993 LincolnTown Car Exe,with 181 K, and i may not be making a proper post. I do not understand all i know about the forum,my apoligies.

Problem: While driving at most any speed the Transmission seems to downshift, and sometimes as if it will stall, engine revs up,and the car continues on,and may do do so for many miles,in fact as many as 300 before it may do it again. This problem has existed for the past 2 years !

Action: Dealership,Plant City Florida. June 2002,Technicians could not get the car to act as stated above ! Replaced fuel filter. No change.

Action: Local Mechanic, kept car 3 days, would not act as described in problem section! Oct 2002.

Action: Transmission repair shop,Mechanic drove car for 30 miles without incident.

Conclusions: None of the technicians have an answer as to what may be the cause ,as a result you can not fix what does not seem to be broke . The car continues to drive well, however the problem continues.

Any and all comments, or possible answers as to the cause of this problem appriciated. Thank you one and all !

Not too sure I understand the problems correctly but I'll add my 2 cents.

For transmission shifting problems on this car, there are two things that need to be done first.

1) Change Transmission Fluid.
You'll have to pay a shop around $50 to completly flush out the old fluid, replace the transmission fluid filter, and refill the system with new fluid.
While refilling, leave room for two bottles of Lubegard Red.

1a) Add 2 bottles of Lubegard Red.
The Lubegard can be ordered directly from their LubeGard Website at around $12us (per 10oz bottle) if you can't find it at any retailers.

2) Adjust your TV Cable (Throttle Valve) and Linkage.
If you can't do it yourself (SEE HERE), have a reliable shop check and adjust the TV Cable and Linkage. Be sure the cable mounts on both ends are in good condition.

In most cases, these simple things are overlooked as possible causes when unfamilliar with this car.
