Re: in progress | toyota levin ae86 [lots of pix!]

looks good from what i can see, (i gave up on the pictures, the took too long to load on my shitty dail up)
there a 2 different variants on the AE86 in inital D, one its trueno (with the pop up lights) and the other is a Levin which didnt have the pop up lights...there are also various other differences between the 2 cars.
good luck with the build
laters, WIDE

Re: in progress | toyota levin ae86 [lots of pix!]

Cool!
Is it going to be painted as per the box?
I reckon you should paint the wheel centres charcoal or gloss black...Those damn mesh rims, they come in stacks of old fujimi kits, and they don't suit any of them... :|
Should be an interesting project. I just ordered a levin kit and some volk TE37 rims, I'm hoping to make a quasi replica of Gen Terasaki's D1 car...

oups... sory bro. i thought its small enough. its only 40% of the original size. i should make it even smaller for next time. thx for that.
yes, there are 2 variants, takumi's trueno (panda trueno) and the other one is wataru's levin.

He means the mesh part of the rim. BTW, that looks like it's coming out great. How come no one's done Iggys AE85?

Re: in progress | toyota levin ae86 [lots of pix!]

Yeah 86_SR5 has it in one - I mean the mesh section, leaving the actual rim/dish part polished. If you want it to look extra trick, paint some bright silver paint around the edge of the "nut" in the centre, let it dry, then paint the clear color of your choice (red, blue, orange etc) over the top for an anodised look.

Re: in progress | toyota levin ae86 [lots of pix!]

bought it in singapore, dec last year. my bro cant find any takumi's ae86, so he grabbed this one. not too bad.

anyway, time for updates.

finally sanded...... looks not too bad IMO

back of the seats are filled with styrene and puttied then sanded. headrest attached.

suspension painted matt black with anodized look springs (clear blue on flat aluminium)

thats all at the moment. im painting the body now (pure white). ill update the body in 2-3 days.

bought spray paints : matt black for under carriage, gloss black for body color (its twin tone white-black). so... another 20sumthin bux spent on it. hehehe.

keep in touch, more update follows.
