starting problems

hey guys, im having problems with my 91 ka, ive changed the starter, altenator and distributor. and still it dose not want to start sometimes. (well if i pop it it runs like a champ) some times if i "dry shift" (run the stick through the gears with out pushing the cluch, with motor off of corse!) or just rock the car while in gear. it will start up just fine. it also starts 99% of the time when cold. this would be my 2nd started (both re-maned) my dad was saying "re -maned starters suck and it could take a few to find a good one" but i hope you guys have some input.

so to re cap. kick ass 91! fires up when cold (most of the time)
wont turn over after it gets hot, i can hear a single starter click.
if its been run and i turn it off i have to "dry shift" (see above) or rock the car while in gear (making the gears slip ) or just plain pop start it.

HELP!!!

im new to the site but ive been driving 240's for 6 years i have a 89 and 91. love the 91 but the 89 is my baby (an ulgy baby but MY baby)

Re: starting problems

if the starter is clicking, then change it. thats all i can think of.

try a basic tune up (plugs, wires, distrib. cap and rotor, fuel filter, and a good oil change)

Re: starting problems

Check the battery conection, I spent a month trying to figure out why my dads truck wouldn't start and I knew the batt was good, but turns out I accidentally loosenes it. Clean the terminals, take it to autozone. if it still will not start, try knocking your starter with a wrench, if it cuts on, thats your problem. lastly, have a friend or dad try to start the car and put your palm on the exhaust tip, feel for exhaust pressure, if it is very weak, your cat could be clogged.
