Question 90 dx swap ?'s

ok i have a 90 DX and some guy offered me an SI motor, tranny, and motor mounts for $200. Only problem is he said it was knocking a little before he took it out, which i'm assuming could just be some rod bearings or something simple...so i'm considering swapping it out. my question is-what other things will i need to make this swap work? i know i'll need a new wiring harness and maybe some tranny mounts (mine is an automatic now ). would i need the SI ECU too? if so, would i need some type of adapter to convert from my DX ECU to the SI ECU? anything esle you can think of lemme know....im tired of this slow, automatic shit, lol.

OK, off topic, but ALSO, my girlfriend has a 91 Geo Prizm and i was wondering if anyone knew of any aftermarket mods she could use, I.E. intake, tail lights, corners, body kits, lowering springs etc etc. i've heard using 93-97 corolla parts will work but im just throwing it out there....THANKS!!

yes u need the Si ECU, you'll hafta re-do your wiring for it, i think you need new tranny mounts if your converting to Standard, you need the shift linkages, and the pedals for it. my suggestion, buy his motor, sell your car, rebuild his motor then buy a standard dx and do the swap because all you'll hafta do is the MPFI wiring

Re: 90 dx swap ?'s

do i need a different adapter to connect the SI ECU to my DX connector? my car is an automatic, by 'standard' i thought you meant a stock DX basically (sry). so would i need the transmission mounts too? ive also been offered the intake portion, ECU, wiring harness and mounts off an SI motor, now could i just use the intake and throttle body or do i need the MPFI head as well? sorry, but im reallllllly ocnfused lol....any help would be appreciated.

Re: 90 dx swap ?'s

std (standard) = lowest line civic, under the DX

You would need a motor mount kit, ECU and maby a wiring guide that can easly be found (search forums its been covered many times before, dont know of any links right off hand).

Re: 90 dx swap ?'s

so you're saying i should jump on this deal? i have no idea how many miles are on it or anything, just know it was knocking a little, but performing fine. im goin ot look at it tomorrow and im planning on pullin the oil pan off and checkin the rod bearings, rods, pistons, etc, and takin off the valve cover and checking for a stock-open valve or a broken valve spring...i guess that should give me a good idea of what i'll need to do...but regardless, the SI tranny alone is worth around 100-150, so yeah...

Re: 90 dx swap ?'s

I thought a standard was a D15b1(aprox. 70hp)...same as the HF CRX but came with a 4speed and really gay seats and everything else in the car.but whats the reson for different motor mounts....its a D series still,so the mount should work fine.correct me if im wrong cus iv never even rode in a standard but iv opened the hood on one a few times.

In-dash TFT LCD monitor, Panasonic C9100 head unit, PS2, 400w power inverter, 2 Rockford HE 12's, 1200w Rockford amp, QLogic Box...neons strobes, custom painted interior, indiglo gauges, seat covers, all that shit. ill hopefully have pics up on cardomain.com soon, ill post a link on here when i get them done.

I cant strip it and sell it ...its my baby lol. i guess ill just stick with the stuff i have now til i get it looking nicer...and btw im not sure that its a DX, all i know is its not an SI, and it comes with more than 70 HP stock, so it isnt an HF. I assume its a Dx though...
