Re: Experiment

Yeah mike has a point. I don't want to ruin a expensive model just to try a cheap why of taping. Use the best stuff out on the market in my opion.

Re: Experiment

It does work

I was out of Tamiya Tape for my RX-8, and I used some scotch tape for the black part. But I still use Tamiya tape anyway

Re: Experiment

i use regular masking tape. Im not saying its smart but hey, it works fine. I've peeled paint off of a model before when removing the tape, so be careful and make sure you peel in a direction that won't pull the paint away from the edges where you've used the exacto.

I also use regular masking tape, from the dollar store actually. Works fine for me, just as long as you make sure it is completely in tact with the models body. I have to drive half an hour to get my hands on the Tamiya stuff..and it is very pricey.

Re: Experiment

I use Tamiya Tape, or blue plastic tape. The blue plastic tape runs about $12-$16USD a roll, but I usually buy it for automotive purposes, so if I have some left, hell I will use it.

i use the masking tape from the dollar store as well, hell if it comes down to it ill just hold a cardboard box next to it, gives it an artistic edge too

i too have to drive well over an hour to get any thing Tamiya, besides some over priced Race cars from them

Tho im going to hobby town hopefully on sunday, since i will be in the area, last time i was there they had some candy apple red, its for RC cars, but hell it will work for model cars, might paint my next project in that

cheap stuff usually works just as fine as expensive stuff, shoes, clothes, cars, some times cheaper is better
