Venom 400 performance chip?

Does anybody have this on their cars? How does it work? How well does it work? Is it reliable? Does it work with/replace my ECU? For $300 and a "25% hp gain", isn't it worth the money? Anybody got any links for more info? Gracias.

hey i used to have one of those for my 96 gt and they suck. they work good till you get passed 60mph then it starts to feel like the tranny is having a hard problem to shift. At one point I thought my tranny was going to blow up or something cause it started to make weird noises. I dont know maybe my engine cant handle it. I paid 300 bucks from jegs.com and am in the process of my refund. I dont think its worth hurting your tranny over 300 bucks. I mean sure if the chip works on your car find then keep it other then that its not worth it. I hoped I helped.

Re: Venom 400 performance chip?

And once you log data, what do you do with it? Maybe this is sort of a larger question, but how do you tune your car using that data? For example, if you're running to lean wouldn't that mean you have to get bigger injectors or something like that? Sorry, I know this question sounds really stupid

ehh, i dont think that a N/A would need a datalog as much as a TT, but you could fine tune your car even better with a datalogger if you invest in an S-AFC. I wouldnt waste money on the venom module, i hear they dont work from people who have actually used them on our car. It just makes you think your going faster than you actually are, pretty much, it does the same thing as putting a block of wood on the bottom of your foot. It tells your car that your doing 75% throttle when your only doing like 50% throttle.

Re: Venom 400 performance chip?

So, basically a datalogger is useless without special components, correct? On an N/A, i.e. without an aftermarket fuel controller or boost & boost controller, etc, there really isn't any way to tune the F/A mixture. Right? I mean, what else could you possibly tune without actually swapping parts?

Basically. Save the 300+ and get a few useful mods.

You know this via dyno time, I ass-ume?

Your butt dyno might be a bit skewed on actual horsepower seeing as you have been raped by Venom on a shitty product.

Re: Venom 400 performance chip?

Nice dodge on the question. It seems you have found the Venom Wormhole where the product actually works for you and not for anyone else.

Also, feel free to point out where I attacked anything but the Venom 400. I dare you.

Congrats.

As for mods under 300:

tune up
air filter
boost controller (he hasn't said if he is turbo or not)
intake piping
header (if he is N/T)

Shall I continue?

As for "big boys", maybe you could try typing like one, because you appear to be a little girl from over here in NC.

So, you going to answer my question about how you measured your HP gains? Tell me it was a "butt dyno" or a "G-Tech performance meter"...please, it would make my day.
