Cool Has anybody taken their Silv to the track?

I think it would be fun just for kicks. I used to take the Lightning to Moroso in Florida all the time, and once raced my Caddy DTS which the track announcer made alot of fun of. They stopped laughing when it beat the older Mustang next to me and ran a 15.0. (Still slow but slightly respectable for a luxury floatilla ).

I would be curious to see what my 4.8 would run. I'm guessing in the 17's. I've only got the intake and dual exhaust. Maybe once I get off my butt and buy a Hypertech, take off the spare tire and hitch, take out the rear seat, and throw a spacer in I could get an ok time. I wish I had the 5.3!!

Re: Has anybody taken their Silv to the track?

I took my '96 5.7 Silv Ex Cab to an 1/8 mile track last night. ET's were: 10.613, 10.618, and 10.653. 66.318 was the best mph. Fairly respectable for a bone stock fat a$$ heavy truck on cheap street tires and running 87 oct gas. BTW, temp and humidity were both in the high 80's. I ordered a hypertech power programmer that just came in today. I'm gonna try it and a set of slicks within the next couple weekends.

Re: Has anybody taken their Silv to the track?

I would like to take mine out to Firebird one of these Friday nights but have yet to get around to it. I really need to get my CAI installed and figure out what needs to be done about the poor low end performance on my truck. Underdrive pulleys and a deeper gear for the rear end would be nice.

I had a 2002 ext. cab silverado 2wd with a 5.3, and 3.73 posi. It would run 15.63@ 92 mph bone stock. I now have a 2002 4wd with the same drivetrain, it is considerably slower.
