Re: 280zx

Rust!! the older Datsuns were not treated before being shipped over seas as the newer Nissans sports cars are, The sports cars from nissan are still made in japan do not know if this has changed with the 350z.
The rust is normally next to the windows of the car and the gas tank fill hole.
but the rust can always be repaired.
depending on the milages all cars have thier wear and tear, normally one of the problems with the z is with the coil wires going bad cuasing no spark to the distributer, also fuel injectors over heating this is why they have the fan motor blowing over them to keep them from varnishing.
To me these things are minor compared to how rock solid the motor and heads are, I have had 280z' 1 non turbo and 3 turbo's all were modified.
I also owned 2 85 300zx turbos. and my brother had a 92 twin turbo. and all run totally differantly 280zx had a major take off the 300 zxt had nice midrange the the twin turbo buetiful top end. all in all i prefered the mid range power of the 85 z.
Sorry Don't mean to type on but the Z's have always been a great car in looks and performance and price.

I've got a 73 with the 83 wheels and some other fun head work done. The car is a dream come true but the holes in th efloor were a definate deterant, but they patched easily with POR-15. My friend is looking at an 83, which I've understood to to be the best Turbo year. Although it has been painted over, the silver still looks good. The two tone was a definite favorite of mine. I still don't understand why electronic ignition and fuel injection weren't given to the 240. Oh well....
