Hi can anyone give me some performance mods to make my car faster for a 1996 3000gt base model? I have a K&N filter in it right now and performance exhaust right now. I used to have a venom control module chip in it which did boost my hp, but the bad thing was when I drove on the highway and excellerated between 60-70 the car would start to stall and like the tranny didnt want to shift gears. I was reading some threads about how some people have gotten there gt's to go 0-60 in 4.8 seconds. I tried that with my car and was doing about 7 seconds which is horrible I guess. What could I put in my car to make it do that? Also has anyone had that control module problem? What are some good interior mods? How can I get out scratches? And one more question how do I fix a broken oil pressure gauge? Thank you for your feedback.

the 0-60 in 4.8 models are what VR-4s can run stock with a good driver. Base models will only do 0-60 in the high 6's if manual and 7s or so in an automatic. As for mods to make your car a little quicker, i'd throw on a 3sx lightweight pulley from 3sxperformance.com, if your a manual, i'd go for a lightweight flywheel, if your an auto, i'd go for shift kit, and high-stall torque converter. That should get you started

flywheels, check some of the 3/S tuners such as 3sxperformance.com and dynamicracing.com
for the auto tranny, check this site out. I just bought the kit and installed it myself instead of paying them to do it. I havent searched for them for a high-stall so i dont know what they do. I have a high-stall on mine and just gave a shop an hour away from my house my stock converter and picked it up a week later and was fully rebuilt. They have a site http://www.ptcrace.com/ but i dont know what they would do regarding shipping and all, you'd have to consult them about it.

with the high-stall, you'd send off your torque converter, either that or buy a used one from either another 3/S auto, a diamente, or possibly even an eclipse. Mine came from a diamente, and i sent that one off to PTC, told them to rebuild it just like all the other mitsubishi torque converters, got it back a week later, fits right in, or course you will have to drop your transmission out of your car to put it in. The shift kit, you dont, the valve body is in the transmission oil pan so you can just undo that without dropping your tranny.
As for the shift kit, its called the Translab TL-175, so i'm sure thats what the importperformancetransmission website calls it, i bought mine directly from the original creator of it before importpoerformancetransmission ever became a group, but if your a little leary about installing your own shift kit, you just send them your valve body, they'll install it for you for however much, and then they'll send it back and you just put it back in. If you send it priority mail, should be there in 2 days, they'll have it done in a day, and the priority mail it back, so your looking at no mroe than a week downtime.
