Jerry, Depends on the year as to whether it makes a difference or not. I installed one on my '93 Silverado and it made a noticeable difference in throttle response and power. Well worth the effort.
I also have one on my 2000 Silverado. I'm not convinced that they make a difference in the later trucks. Hope that helps a little. Mike

I Love these things... and everyone of them I have installed (except one) were loved by the owner. On the newer trucks you will see an increased gas mileage and increased low end torque. There will be a slight whistle after install that sounds a little like a supercharger or turbo. Something you can live with (that's what the one didn't like)

ya ok I am hoping to get better gas milage. It is going in a 1998 5.7 liter vortec. I did not get better milage with an exhaust or an intake system.

You're gonna' be in for a nice surprise when you get it installed. It'll do wonders for your 5.7. Let us know how you like it. BTW, Whatever you do, don't buy one of the phenolic pieces of crap off ebay. They're junk! I have a S+P Helix tower on my '93. Mike

OH Oh! My neighbor bought one of those off ebay for his GMC and it only lasted a couple of months before it distorted and caused a bad vacuum leak. I would advise you to keep looking on ebay or check with Jegs or Summit to find an aluminum one.Sorry to bring this up but, hopefully, it will save you some grief down the road. Mike

Mike it is an aluminum one it looks just like airaids. go to ebay home and type in throttle body and you will see those from T&T they have a yellow logo T&T motor sports. Any way I was looking at the helix power towers and they are sure different then the others. They look nice. I don't know they will do better though. I think I will resell mine from T&T and buy the power tower. I want to do it right It looks like the power tower has holes all around the opening? Do those holes have outlets where it also gets air put through those holes or are they just dead end holes? Either way I think I will buy the power tower.

Actually the point i wanted to make is to NOT buy the phenolic spacer. If your's is aluminum it will probably be fine. The Power Tower is nice, I bought mine for $45 off ebay. A friend has a Trans-Dapt on his truck and it works fine too. I honestly don't know how much difference the helix cut really makes as far as performance gains. I would go ahead and use the one you have. It'll probably be just fine. Mike

Jerry, I've heard people talk about that whistling noise but I've never heard it on my '93 or my buddy's '94. Mike
