Question Help!!!! Car won't shift out of park

I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand AM that has been nothing but problems lately. I went to the store the other day and when I went to come home the ABS and check engine light came on steady. I had my husband look at it when he got home from work and both of those lights plus the break light were on and the car can not be shifted out of park. You can't even push the button in to shift it. I called out mechanic and he said to see if a break bulb needs replaces and it did. I changed it but it still won't work. We did the over-ride to get it out of park and I also found out that I have no reverse lights. Is that possibly the problem? Thanks!

Re: Help!!!! Car won't shift out of park

Take it to a GM dealer, or a garage that can hook it to a diagnostic computer. It sounds like the electronic control module (ECM), may have gone bad. That is the brain to the car's entire electrical system. Same thing happened to my Cavalier right after I bought it in 1990.
